November Foodie Penpals and Holiday Giving!

If you haven’t heard of the Foodie Penpal Program, click HERE to check out Lindsay’s ‘The Lean Green Bean’ Blog. This is my first month participating, and I am so excited about it!
Today is reveal day, so here goes….
I received a great box from Dena! It included wonderful local goodies from Indianapolis. Just before I opened my box, I had the television on and was watching an episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ – they had a little scene about the magic of mixing cheddar and caramel popcorn together. I was thinking, “Yes! They know what they’re talking about… best way to eat popcorn.” So, I open my box a few minutes later and guess what’s in there? Yeah!!! …and it was so delicious.

I also received some chocolate-covered graham crackers and giant marshmallows (infused with white chocolate, blueberries, and cranberries). These made an excellent gourmet s’more! Loved it all, thanks Dena!!

I also had a ton of fun preparing a box to send to the lovely Margaret – adventurous eater and mom to twin toddlers! How adorable is this family?!
The usual Foodie Penpal Program will resume in January, but for December it is being turned into a charity drive for hurricane Sandy victims – click HERE to learn more!
I would also like to share another holiday giving idea for those who may not have much money to spare, or prefer to help locally. 2hands.org was started by a father and his daughters and is a place where those who need holiday or other assistance (could be clothes, toys, basic household items, food, money, etc.) can post a classified ad on this site – it’s divided up by states here in the US… you simply pick out someone you’d like to help, and then privately exchange contact info via the organization. I was able to pass on gently used board games and some other items last year to a family who was thrilled to have them.
