Venturing through the woods and prairies today, I was on a work-related mission; however, I couldn’t help myself and stopped a few times to capture things that caught my eye . I had expected the autumn colors to be gone since the maples lost their leaves weeks ago, but received a happy surprise upon seeing a few remaining stands of blazing oaks. Above is my favorite shot of the day.
If you’ve never walked through a tallgrass prairie during fall, you’re missing out. The grasses change to warm hues and the synchronized way they sway in the wind is splendid. Later, as everything goes to seed it becomes delicate and fluffy and floaty.
