I’m a little lacking in things to write about currently (though gardening is sure to be on the brain soon!), so I figured I may as well post a couple itty bitty eco-friendly / recycling tips.
-While waiting for your shower water to warm up, keep an empty jug or pail handy and fill it until the water is warm enough for you to hop in. Use the saved water for houseplants.
-If you buy toilet paper packs that are wrapped in plastic, cut or rip the plastic carefully at the end and save it to use as a liner for the bathroom (or any other small) garbage can.
-Save the cardboard tube from inside a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, or gift wrap and give it to fido as a toy. My dog loves to prance around with these in his mouth. If your canine buddy is fond of eating cardboard, this probably isn’t a good idea.
-Speaking of dogs: if you buy doggy clean-up bags, try biodegradable ones. I love BioBags on a roll. They offer many earth-friendly types of bags for household use. Products are listed at www.biobagusa.com.
-The next time you buy a toothbrush, consider buying Preserve brand. They’re made with recycled yogurt cups, and they’re packaged in a mailing pouch so you can ship them off to be recycled even further when you’re finished! I’ve seen them at my local Target, and they can be purchased online as well. Visit www.preserveproducts.com to find out more about the toothbrushes and other products.
I’d love to hear any other tips you might have. Cheers!
